Fluffy’s Plans For National Lazy Day

August 2, 2022
Did you know that August 10th is National Lazy Day? That’s definitely pretty relevant to our feline patients! Kitties can be quite playful, but they slow down—wayy down—as they get older. To be honest, many cats are basically adorable, meowing couch potatoes. A local New Albany, IN vet goes over some of Fluffy’s plans for her big day below.

Napping

No matter what day it is, your furry pal will diligently keep up with her napping routine. You may notice that your kitty changes things up here a bit. One week she may like snoozing on your couch. The next she may move to your bed. Want to spoil your cute pet a bit? Pick up a new bed for her!

Eating

You can’t have a proper lazy day without a good meal. Want to treat the furball to something special? A can of tuna in water would not be inappropriate for this special day. You can also offer some store-bought treats, or even make your own. Of course, you may want to skip cooking yourself, and order takeout or delivery.

Sunbathing

One of the most adorable things about cats is the way they love finding warm, comfy spots to nap in. You may very well find your kitty sprawled out in a sunbeam. Why not join your unmotivated pet, and find a quiet, sunny spot to read or enjoy a book or podcast?

Movies

If you like to relax at the end of the day by watching a good movie or tv show, you may find your furball settling in with you. This would be a perfect time for screening a movie about the laziest cat ever: Garfield. The Flabby Tabby has starred in plenty of fun flicks!

Meditation

Cats sleep as much as 20 hours a day, though most of them average between 12 to 16 hours. When Fluffy is actually awake, she’ll spend her time eating, stretching, judging you, and grooming herself, but that won’t take up the whole day. Your feline buddy may meditate to fill the remaining ten minutes.

Spying

Birdwatching is one of Fluffy’s favorite activities … likely in part because it doesn’t require much activity. Make sure your kitty has a comfy window seat with a good view! Contact us, your New Albany, IN animal clinic, for your lazy cat’s veterinary care needs. We’re here for you!
